YAA! – Young Associated Artist

Mentoring program / in cooperation with Pro Helvetia – Swiss arts council

«YAA! - Young Associated Artist» from Pro Helvetia has enabled a two-year partnership between young artists and Kaserne Basel. The mentoring programme intends to generate and express ideas for future choreographic works and thus focuses on various aspects of choreography, such as movement, space, art and ritual. Furthermore, it will explore current developments in the performing arts concerning questions of communication, specific production networks and production processes.
2016 – 2018 / Tabea Martin

Tabea Martin (Switzerland - 1978) is a choreographer and performer, based between Amsterdam, Basel Switzerland. After studying Modern Theatre Dance at the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten and Choreography at the Rotterdamse Dansacademie in Holland, she began developing her work as a choreographer in which sociological questions occupy a central role. Tabea focuses more on the creative process than the actual end result: losing one’s way, confronting the unknown, leaping hurdles, dealing with the emotions that arise, or discovering the unexpected.

Tabea has won the Wim Barry Prize in Holland and was nominated by the Dutch Dance Days for promising young choreographers. Duet for two dancers was selected by Aerowaves in 2013 and was awarded by (Re)connaissance in France and Tanzpreise Bern. It has since toured extensively in Europe. She has also participated in the project ACT your AGE, and European collaborations between Holland, Cyprus and Italy. She took part with other performance artists in the SWEET & TENDER Collective in Bern Dampfzentrale with the project End of the world. Tabea created several performances in collaboration with Matthias Mooij and Jean-Marc Desbonnets. She collaborates also with Sebastian Nübing and Sibylle Berg.

Her new work BEYOND INDIFFERENCE will Premiere  in the winter 2017 at Kaserne Basel.
